How to Maintain CLVLT
Earning Continuing Education Credits (CECs)
To maintain your Certified Low Voltage Lighting Technician (CLVLT) certification you must earn and document a minimum of 12 CECs every two years and pay the biennial renewal fee. Please see below for a listing of ways to earn credits as well as the amount of credit each activity is worth. A minimum of six (6) CECs per renewal period must be lighting related.
Attend AOLP Annual Conference & Expo
Attend full conference and educational seminars held during conference. Six (6) CECs.
Serve on an AOLP Committee
Must attend 80% of meetings and be a contributing member. Six (6) CECs / +1 additional CEC per year for serving as committee chair.
New Member Referral
Applicant must list your name on his/her membership application and you must list his/her name on your CEC form. Two (2) CECs per new member. Limit 6 CECs/year.
Attain Additional Lighting Certifications
Must request preapproval from the CLVLT committee. Two (2) to six (6) CECs
Teach a Lighting Seminar/Class
One (1) CEC per seminar/class.
Serve as a CLVLT Test Proctor or COLD Instructor
Six (6) CECs per full test event proctored.
Serve as Moderator/Host on CLVLT Zoom Study Session
One (1) CEC per session (typically one hour calls).
Conduct a Lighting Presentation at a Seminar or Technical Conference
Can be presented at national/regional/state associations or agencies, universities or technical schools, green/lighting industry organizations, etc. Three (3) CECs
Attend a Lighting Educational Seminar, Course, Trade Show, Field Day, or Technical Conference
These experiences can be sponsored by AOLP, IESNA, ALA, state/regional industry association, federal or state agency, etc. One (1) CEC per session.
Write/Publish article(s) for AOLP LightLines Newsletter
Submit and be published in LightLines (Contact AOLP for submission guidelines). One (1) CEC per article.
Reading of Industry Related Books or Articles
A written review of the book or article must be submitted for CEC credit. One (1) CEC
